ASLEEP. UNDER THE NORTHERN LIGHTS.

ASLEEP. UNDER THE NORTHERN LIGHTS.

6 x 6"  Acrylic on Textured Wood Panel.

I have been very fortunate to have seen the Northern Lights, actually, more than several times.  They are truly magnificent.  Since I have seen them more than once I was very surprised some years back when my Hubby and I were on an Alaskan Cruise, and the Captain, in the middle of an Evening Stage show, came on stage, stopped the show, and made everyone get up and go outside to see the lights.  He said that in all the years he had been at Sea he had never seen the Northern Lights.  He was so excited to share the event.  :)  And I have to say, that seeing them while semi-surrounded by massive Icebergs did give the whole experience a surreal feel to it.

EVENING KISS

Here is another piece I did for the Studio Tour recently.  Those are large, beautiful chunks of Chalcedony that make up the front focal point of this Necklace.  Chalcedony is considered by many to be a nuturing stone.  It absorbs negative energy and is said to bring the Mind, Body and Spirit into Harmony along with many other positive traits.   What more can you ask for!

THEN THAT'S WHAT THE NORTHERN LIGHTS ARE.

THE FAMILY TREE: "THEY ALL CAN'T BE NATURAL REDHEADS ... CAN THEY?"

THE FAMILY TREE:
"THEY ALL CAN'T BE NATURAL REDHEADS ... CAN THEY?

24 x 30"       SOLD

This was a recent commission piece.  I had done one last year in this style and it sold through a wonderful Seasonal Gallery that carries my work.  This year, the client came back and ordered another one for a Family member that had seen the original piece and wanted one 'just like it'.  I thought they meant 'style wise' and it wasn't until I finished this one that I found out from the Gallery owner that "No, they meant 'just. like. it.'  Fortunately, when the Clients Family member saw the new piece they loved it.  That was a 'Whew!' moment.  :/

'BREAKTHROUGH'

SOLD

You might remember this Piece.  I posted it a couple of weeks ago here on my blog.  It was part of the Studio tour that I recently did.   I didn't tell you about the actual sale though and I thought you might enjoy hearing about it 'just in case'  you might be able to relate.  The Piece  went home with a member of a very prominent Hollywood family whom I did not even recognize until AFTER she left.   I didn't handle the actual sale so I was momentarily oblivious.  The sad thing is, she was actually in my home about 10 years ago as part of a Show I was having for a mutual friend who is a Photographer.  (Long story).  So,  has she changed that much, or ... is my memory just that bad now.

Somehow, I feel it's the latter.  :(

EVEN THE SKY KNOWS WHEN TO BE SILENT ...

I love my quiet times.  There are days when I'm in my Studio and the Music is going non- stop.  But then, there are those days when the only sound you might possibly hear is me talking to myself.  Yes, I do.  I even answer myself at times.  After all, who is going to answer you truthfully if not yourself?  :/  I think Silence is a gift we give ourselves.  We just have to make sure we listen, in order to really appreciate it.

AND THE NIGHT ANSWERED IN SILENCE

Both of these are from from the Jacklin Art Center 'Studio Tour'.

NATIVE DANCER

"We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness.  God is the friend of Silence.  See how nature ~ trees, flowers, grass grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence ... We need silence to be able to touch souls.

~ Mother Teresa

O.K. BUT IT WAS JUST A LITTLE FIB ...

Good intentions never seem to go exactly as you plan them.  My intention of not designing and making jewelry anymore didn't last very long.  I really had thought I was done.  Certain body parts weren't cooperating the way I wanted them to so I thought 'why push it?' My Artwork will be enough. Enough ... until I managed to over-extend myself with a committment to participate in the Coeur d'Alene Artists Studio Tour the weekend of Sept. 12th/13th ... the very same weekend as our Sons Wedding! :/  And, I had just finished doing a Gallery Show the weekend before which is where most all of my newest work went.

I really hadn't planned on participating but when they called and specifically asked me to be a part of the Tour (at a Coeur d'Alene location ~ my Studio is too far away) the ego stepped in and before I knew what was happening it said 'YES!".  I did have a few newer small, paintings but hardly enough to make any kind of statement.  So...  hubby went to our Storage unit and dug out all of my Jewelry supplies.  I worked 5 days straight on getting new work done and managed to come up with some nice new pieces.  It took me a little longer than I liked but I was very pleased with the results. My work was (is) at the Jacklin Art Center in Post Fall, Idaho. The Studio Tour itself was only 2 days but because this venue is an Arts and Cultural Center they asked the 4 Artists showing there if we would leave the work an extra 2 weeks.  (A reason, I'm sure, why my ego was so eager to jump in before thinking the whole thing through!)  Anyway, if you are in the area the work can still be seen at The Jacklin Art Center, 405 N. William Street, Post Falls, ID  208.457.8950 until October 2nd.

Here are a few of the Jewelry Pieces from the Show:

TIBETAN PRINCESS

MBARARA

PINK LADY

And, one of the small paintings that is in the Show.  This Piece is sold.

BREAKTHROUGH

I really like how this one turned out.  You can feel the anticipation.  The waiting.  And I really like the colors.  Hope you agree! :)

Here are two pieces that I recently did for my show in Coeur d'Alene ...

6 x 8" Acrylic on Textured wood panel.

Both more Impressionistic then I normally do.  Hopefully heading in the right direction!  :)
