WISHFUL THINKING ON SPRING CONTINUES ....

ANOTHER  'LITTLE SISTER' WITH SOME SPRING THOUGHTS ...

"BET YOU CAN'T GUESS WHAT I HAVE!"

6 x 6 x 1.5" Mixed Media on Canvas

I haven't done these Little Sisters for a while. I really enjoyed working on these last two so I put together two more backgrounds and should have them done this week (barring any unforeseen adventures!)  More information on the above Piece can be found HERE

This is a 'tiny mini'  :)  just 2" x 3"  When I owned my Gallery a few years ago, several of the Artists contributed Handmade Ornaments for sale to our Christmas 'tree' (it was a very unusual tree ~ it was one very large, bare branch from a fallen tree :).  Between the lights and the ornaments though, it was perfect.   I ordered these small canvases to paint on for my contribution to the tree.  Thing was, I had to order 100 and needless to say I wound up with a LOT left over!  Anyway, I found this one the other day, which had the background already painted, so on a whimsy I added the Flowers.  It seemed like a perfect fit.

CLOUDS OF THE DAY ...

I  see a Clowns face.  He is not a happy Clown.  He is one of those that would definitely scare anyone with an aversion to clowns!  (Like my Granddaughter, who is older, but still doesn't like clowns!) Hopefully you see something happier.  :)

JUST WEST OF ...

FOREVER ...

'JUST WEST OF FOREVER'

6 x 8" Acrylic on Wood Panel

I had fun with this abstract Piece.  I painted the background without thought to the finished Piece and then 'let it speak to me.'  I can feel myself there.

CLOUDS OF THE DAY ...

I love this shot.  I took it two nights ago and every time I blinked there was a whole new 'scene' in front of me.  This reminds me of an angry storm coming in and huge waves crashing against the shore.  The tree is just watching ... and waiting.

THERE'S GOLD IN THEM THAR ... FIELDS

A Little MIDNIGHT GOLD ...

'MIDNIGHT GOLD'

6 x 6 x 1.5" Acrylic on Textured Canvas
For more information on this Piece Please click HERE

This reminds me of the miles of Golden Wheat fields down in the Palouse region of Eastern Washington.  We were down there last week and the wheat is already peeking up through the soil.

I'm currently working on a Pointillist Piece and it is taking me a lot longer than anticipated.  And ... I'm not even sure I am happy with it at this point. (No pun intended.)  I had a request from a Customer to do more (she's already bought two :) so that is why I am diligently working on this one.  It needs a lot more work so I took a break and did this Abstract landscape.  I needed a break from the minute detail.

Yesterday was a beautiful day here.  Sunny skies and warmer temperatures (high 40's may not be high to some but for us, it was great!)  We decided to take a drive over to Montana, a whole 6 miles away (although we did go further than that!).  I've been fortunate to have traveled through most of this country and Western Montana is very high on my list of some of the most beautiful landscapes we have.  We drove over to Plains, Mt., had an ice cream in a cute little Shop called 'Ripples' and came back home.  Saw lots of Wildlife on the drive ... Deer, Bald Eagles, Canadian Geese but we did miss the Mountain Goats.  They are all over this area, to the point that there are signs telling you to drive carefully, 'Mountain Goats are on the road ahead'.  They just weren't ahead of us.  :(

I think the Smurfs are back and having a Face-off!  I'm sure you can find more than that!

There is a very tiny Heart on a piece of the collage papers that I used on this.  You can see it just to the right of the tree.  Home is usually at the core of our memories thus 'IN THE HEART OF THE MEMORIES'.  :)

Clouds of the Day ...

O.K. ... I'm looking down from above the clouds,  I see the shoreline (the very dark Clouds.  Yes, they were that dark!) along the Ocean, waves breaking and Clouds above.
Enjoy your day at the Shore!  :)

FROM THE SHADOWS TO THE LIGHT...

FROM THE BLACK TO THE WHITE ....

OUT OF AUTUMNS SHADOWS

6 x 6" Acrylic on Wood Panel
For more information on this Piece Please click HERE

I did several Pointillist Pieces last year and both were Acrylic on a black background.  Years ago when I did several (much bigger than above) Pointillist Pieces I did them watercolor on paper.  Unfortunately I wasn't very diligent about photographing my work back then  SUCH a different look as you can see from the very bad photo :( above.  This is of the Arboretum  at the San Francisco Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park.  The color was much more vibrant (Still is I hope!  This was sold many years ago) than what this photo shows.  But, you can get an idea of the difference between the two styles.

CLOUDS OF THE DAY ...

I see an Eagles head down on the lower right.  That's what popped out right way but with so many clouds I know there has to be more.  :)

PUT YOUR HEAD ON MY SHOULDER ...

OR ... BETTER YET, ON A PILLOW!  :)

I'm actually working on a couple of new pieces right now so I don't have new work to show today.  Letting spackle dry (for texture) on 2, letting backgrounds dry (and waiting for them to 'speak' to me) on another two, and slowly working on another one in Pointillism which will take a little while.  Did just finish a small piece that uses Pointillism, along with a little Impressionistic point of view, but I haven't photographed that yet.  I will probably show that next post.

These are two of the Pillows I have that are available in 6 sizes.  I love how both of these turned out.   If you would like more information on these please click on the link just before each pillow.

I COULD USE A LITTLE NIGHTLIFE RIGHT NOW !

The title of this Piece made me realize it's been a while since I've been 'out on the town' (or to dinner ... or to a movie ... hmmm).  I'm starting to become one of those reclusive Artists that we hear about.  :/  Not!   I think its time my 'needs' to be brought up to my hubby. :)

21 GOING ON 30 ...

THE CHALLENGE IS OVER ...

I didn't quite make 30 paintings.  There are 21 here.  I actually did a few more but they just didn't make the cut.  For numerous reasons!  :0  But I also did work on 2 more larger pieces that still aren't finished so I have to say it was an accomplishing month overall.  Practice makes perfect they say ... and while I know I'll never see perfect, it's a good goal!

Seeing all these together does anyone see strengths, weaknesses?  I'd love to know your feelings.  All critiques help one way or another.

Now I have to get serious about work ready for EntrĂ©e Gallery.  They open Mothers Day weekend and my work has to be there mid April.  Time goes by so fast I know I'll blink and  the work will be due ...

CLOUDS OF THE DAY ...

I think this is my friend the Smurf back, but from a different angle.  I actually see a Scorpion coming out of the top of the photo ... ready to attack.  Macabre :/  It reminds me though of a painting I did years ago for a Race Car driver.  He raced a Fiat and the cars name was 'Scorpion'.  He wanted me to paint his car on the racetrack.  He provided a photo but it wasn't a very good one of the track.  The day he came to pick up the painting I was definitely anxious to see his reaction.  I knew it was either going to be really good, or really bad.  No in between.  He opened up the covering and I watched the look of stunned silence take over.  there were a few tense moments (in a roomful of people!).  Then he looked at me and said "This is great!!"  He loved it.  It was a real 'Phew!' moment.  I had painted his car in the claws of a Scorpion ...

Don't know that I would do that today ...  :)

LIFE IS FULL OF SURPRISES ...
